Freeing children from sex trafficking

Children & young peopleMariciSupported over several yearsFunded by John Margerison
What was given

Funds work freeing children from sex trafficking, and the aftercare that follows. Seventy-five children freed so far.

Marici is a United States 501(c)(3), founded in 2018 and based in San Francisco. It works the whole chain rather than one link of it: intelligence collection, support to law enforcement, prosecution of the networks, and aftercare for the children afterwards.

More than 350 people across those disciplines, operating in ten cities. Investigators, operatives, prosecutors and aftercare workers do this, in places John Margerison has never been. He pays for it.

This is the hardest thing he funds. A child freed is the start of their recovery, not the end of it, which is why the aftercare matters as much as the raid.

In earlier years he supported Operation Underground Railroad, now Our Rescue.

This one carries no photograph.

No available image can represent this work without either sensationalising the subject or implying that a child who has been through it is on screen. The record is the text, and the text is enough.
